Moultrie Mobile Prepares for 3G Sunsetting

Verizon 4G LTE Network to Replace Older 3G Network

The Moultrie Mobile MV1 Field Modem currently operates on the Verizon 3G network to deliver images to your Moultrie Mobile app and web account. Verizon has upgraded its network to 4G LTE. On 1/1/21, Verizon will begin turning off its older 3G network, a process known as “sunsetting.” This sunsetting process will not impact the entire country at the same time. The process will occur tower by tower over a period of time. Please note Moultrie Mobile has no control on the timing or locations of the 3G sunsetting process.

How Long Do I Have to Activate or Reactivate A MV1 Field Modem?

You must activate or reactivate your MV1 Field Modem by 12/28/20. After 12/28/20 you will no longer be able to activate or reactivate any 3G modems. Only MV1 Field Modems active as of 12/28/20 will be able to continue to utilize the 3G network until local 3G towers are removed (see above). If you intend to use your MV1 past 12/28/20, we recommend that you activate it now and leave it active for as long as Verizon 3G coverage remains in your area.

Upgrade Offer for MV1 Users

As a “thank you” for being a long-time subscriber to Moultrie Mobile, MV1 users will receive a special offer to upgrade to Moultrie Mobile’s newest 4G cellular trail cameras in Spring 2021. All active MV1 users will receive details of the upgrade offer some time in February, so please be on the lookout for those communications and offers.
